On Burmese Politics!

Where do we begin? The best target to shoot at is SPDC; let us get on to it. Let’s have our perimeter on SPDC first. For any ominous things attached to SPDC we made no argument; we agreed in toto.

SPDC is a military junta that wants to leave its mark in history that the Army is the benevolent organization that looked after the welfare of the people. They do not want us to remember that they shoot at the people and monks at will, they jail people in trove, they plot assassinations, they deprived rights to its own people and they place themselves above everyone as though they are super human beings. Yes, we like to give everything they want but in return we would want to have, at the very least, the ‘right to dignity’. We want them to treat us as human being with equality and dignity. We can wait for human and democratic rights as we have been waiting for so long; but, dignity is what we really deserved, and we need NOW.

Burmese politics have been dwelling on one issue for so long; i.e. release Daw Aung San Su Kyi as though there is no important issue in body politics of the country. She was the only person allowed to do politics in Burma, remember? She used to have full understanding with the junta until Depairyinn? She is the only one who knows where she did go wrong; one day she has to reveal the truth to the public. She will come out soon if the Western democracies and the United Nations leave her alone. The Western countries got involved, and now UN got involved deeper for the release of the Lady. It is in the opinion that the more they got involved the more it will take time for us to attain freedom from the military led State anarchy and State terrorism, and, the longer the Lady will have to spend time under house arrest, if not jail arrest soon, or, hut arrest. It would be beneficial to the Lady if she is kept in solitary confinement in jail like Mandela as many have equated her to that iconoclature.

Mahatma Gandhi fought for India’s freedom from the British shackles and one of his mottos was: ‘Let the jail doors open wide, we are coming’ and they let the Brits arrest them in trove. In Burmese political context it is ‘close the jail doors’ is the order of the day. We wonder if Gandhigyi were fighting for freedom under the SPDC would he get what he envisaged for, or, would he become martyred at an early age?

Burmese politicians, i.e. dissident politicians outside Burma has become functional: ‘Dinner Politicians’, as they have been working so hard to get project funding so much so that all they do is submitting projects to the Western donors. They received funds, of course, they pocketed in individual manner with no sharing and that have caused consternation among them. Their stories had surfaced like rotten dead dog and they could no longer cover the dead elephant with goat skin; too bad! NCGUB is one of the worst organizations that belong to that category. If they want to claim as a government in exile they should have some support indigenously but even Burmese dinner political organization seems to lend support to them. Too bad!

Many tried, including NLD, internal and Los Angeles [LA] advocated for ‘No’ vote to referendum and they were thoroughly snubbed. Now they are working on 2010 elections for the people to shun; what a wonderful advice! They should be working on annihilation of the militarism in Burma as their main target, and, denying referendum and elections should be the residual effects of their main action.
The legality issue should be the paramount action to tackle but the dinner politicians never seriously touched the subject. With or without their objection, if the junta can handle the ethnic problem, they would carry on with the elections. Those who want to contest in the elections are no traitors; they are politicking in their own way while dinner politicians are doing verbal politicking that is their own style. By the way, if you want to be in dinner political movement you need a computer and InterNet access.

Burma needs freedom, Burma is at cross roads, and Burma needs coordination and cooperation among its entire people in rebuilding the country. We can not say ‘No’ to Burma Army in the Nation Building process; we need them, so is to say we are needed by them - the Army, our full cooperation. Burma Army minus peoples’ support is equal to zero; so also, people minus Army’s support will be none other than zero as the country is created or messed up by the Army for more than four decades.

Since the junta is ‘autocratic’ or ‘the’ u: hsan bain’, magnanimity is expected from them. We are in the opinion that if the Army truly love the country they should declare “Indemnity Act” or “thin boun: chei” so that we all can start anew in nation building process.

Until then, we all should carry on with what we have professed in every humanly possible way; contest in elections, destroy elections, or, whatever deem fit for the country but no piece meal bomb explosion here and there.

Hallelujah!

Goat detained over armed robbery

LAGOS (Reuters) - Police in Nigeria are holding a goat on suspicion of attempted armed robbery.
Vigilantes took the black and white beast to the police saying it was an armed robber who had used black magic to transform himself into a goat to escape arrest after trying to steal a Mazda 323.
"The group of vigilante men came to report that while they were on patrol they saw some hoodlums attempting to rob a car. They pursued them. However one of them escaped while the other turned into a goat," Kwara state police spokesman Tunde Mohammed told Reuters by telephone.
"We cannot confirm the story, but the goat is in our custody. We cannot base our information on something mystical. It is something that has to be proved scientifically, that a human being turned into a goat," he said.
Belief in witchcraft is widespread in parts of Nigeria, Africa's most populous nation. Residents came to the police station to see the goat, photographed in one national newspaper on its knees next to a pile of straw.
